PROGRAM
TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is a global program dedicated to fostering future generations of industry leaders by teaching high school students the rewards and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur. TYE is an "Entrepreneurship Academy," where student teams utilize modern skills and tools to build a concept using customer feedback, iteration, and lightweight business models.
Each TiE Boston Young Entrepreneur will have the opportunity to:

Build a real startup with a team

Participate in a rigorous business curriculum proven over 10+ years

Develop confidence and leadership skills

Learn directly from startup founders and industry experts

Collaborate with other students passionate about STEM

Connect with a dedicated mentor who will coach their team

Participate in professional development workshops around networking, professional correspondence, interviewing skills, LinkedIn, etc.

Compete for $5k in seed funding and the opportunity to represent Boston at the TYE Global Competition
Who should apply? Any 9th -12th grade student interested in entrepreneurship, STEM or business may apply to participate!
Program Details: Sessions are held in the heart of Kendall Square at CIC. Students meet on alternating Saturdays from 10AM-3PM, October through April. Application deadline is September 30th.

The first part of the program is focused on the professional development of each participant. By starting with the development of the individual before the on-going development of the companies, each participant is able to nuture a professional persona that they can leverage during the program.

The program then enters a stage where participants pitch ideas, form teams and build companies. By leveraging the experiential learning environment created by building a company, participants grow their professional competencies while also taking and idea and creating a viable startup. To supplement our workshops and to inspire the rising entrepreneurs in our program, we invite a number of founders to speak on the challenges and triumphs of founding a company!
mentors
Participants are encouraged to reach out to all workshop leaders and guest speakers to support their individual development and the growth of their startup. Along with these individuals, each startup is paired with a mentor who works with the team to get ready for the final competition.
Our mentors are incredible people who not only understand all the components of building a startup, they also care about creating a supportive learning environment for young people!

At the end of each program cycle, the teams pitch their startups in front of a panel of investors. They not only have the chance to demo their product and services but they also have a but they also have the chance to win seed funding! The winning amounts of the 2018-2019 cycle were, as follows:

The TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) Program is an initiative that seeks to inspire, challenge and empower students to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. Teenage youth (grades 9-12) are taught business basics and the essentials of entrepreneurship. Through the TYE program, students develop self-confidence, presentation skills, leadership, and creativity. A number of awards (totaling $10K) are given to competing teams and the startups from TYE Boston have won the following:

The Global Competition for the 2018-2019 cycle was held in Boston, MA and over 21 chapters are expected to participate. You can read more about it here.
Pricing
The program fee for twelve full-day Saturday sessions is $1,650 (lunch provided). The TYE Program Fee goes towards the support of the program, lunch and hosting venue.
Need-Based Scholarships are available. If you would like to be considered for financial aid, please select the section in the application so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Application
We encourage interested candidates to apply early as space is on a first-come, first-serve basis and spots tend to fill quickly. We do look at the timestamp of applications submitted when determining the order of invitations of the most compelling candidates.
If an invitation to join the cohort has been offered upon review of the application, families will have two weeks for the participant to confirm their acceptance and for parents to submit payment for the program fee. We kindly ask for a two week turnaround to know your intent so we may notify our wait-listed candidates.
Applications for the 2020-2021 program year will open in April 2020.
